| Artist statement |
| The forms are inspired by my memory of the lovely fat,
black pottery pieces I saw in Oaxaca, Mexico. Aesthetically, I think of these
pieces (although I'll be flayed for saying it) as very feminine: soft and
round with promise, elegant and strong with an inner beauty that literally
glows. |
| |
|
| I love icons, symbols, mythology and anything that helps
us imagine ourselves. These little characters are not Roman Gods or A-list
legends. Though terribly ordinary, the situations portrayed still speak of
what it is to be human and specifically, male and female. These strange
pillow people have taught me something about the eternal dance; the wonderful
wrestle; the glorious symphony; the ridiculous, beautiful, strange and
compelling epic… the union of a man and a woman. |
| |
|
| I hope you enjoy them like I have and that they bring a
soft little light into your world. |
